University says Holmes papers back its statement

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — The university attended by the Colorado theater shooting suspect says newly released documents support its assertions about what actions it took in the weeks before the massacre.

The University of Colorado, Denver on Friday said the documents back up the school’s statements that Holmes wasn’t banned from campus and that his access card was deactivated when he quit a PhD program.

However, at least one of the documents quotes a campus police officer as saying the card was deactivated because Holmes’ former psychiatrist reported that Holmes had homicidal thoughts and had threatened the psychiatrist.

University spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery said Friday she could not elaborate on the school’s statement because of a judge’s gag order.

Holmes is charged with killing 12 people and injuring 70 in the July 20 shootings.
