Topeka Man Sentenced For Shooting Death

STILLTABOR

A Topeka man will spend nearly 24 years in prison for his involvement in the shooting death near the Topeka West High campus.

The Topeka Capital Journal reports Austin Tabor apologized to the families of the two victims during the sentencing Friday morning in Shawnee County District Court.

Last fall,  Tabor pleaded “no contest” to the second degree murder of Matthew Mitchell.

Tabor killed Mitchell in 2010 near Topeka West High School.

Mitchell’s friend was shot five times – but survived.

Prosecutors say the late-night shooting happened during a drug deal.
