MANHATTAN, Kan. – Leading Kansas State to a perfect 5-0 record last week, Wildcat outfielder Jon Davis earned Big 12 Player of the Week accolades, the conference office announced Monday.

A product of Juneau, Alaska, Davis picked up his first-career Big 12 weekly designation, while it was the second by a Wildcat this season as Tanner Witt was honored on March 25.

Davis, who went 9-for-17 (.529) with a home run and eight RBI, tallied a .706 slugging percentage and a .619 on-base percentage over the five games, while he was also 3-for-4 in steals as K-State picked up wins over Nebraska and Omaha during the week before a three-game sweep of Texas Tech over the weekend.

In Tuesday’s 9-1 win over Nebraska, Davis went 2-for-2 with a RBI and two walks before a heroic effort against the Red Raiders. On Friday night, Davis tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a two-strike, two-out pitch into right field before K-State won the game in the next at-bat. The next day, Davis jump-started a K-State offense that scored nine first-inning runs with his first-career grand slam en route to a 4-for-4, four-RBI performance.

A former transfer from Palomar College, Davis capped his week by going 2-for-3 with another RBI single on Sunday as K-State run-ruled the Red Raiders, 12-2.

Thanks to his outstanding week at the plate, Davis is now hitting .340 on the season and ranks second in the Big 12 in on-base percentage (.492), third in slugging percentage (.560), fifth in home runs (5), sixth in runs scored (26), eighth in both RBI (23) and walks (17), and ninth in triples (2). Additionally, Davis is the league leader in hit-by-pitches with 14.

Kansas State completes a six-game homestand Tuesday night with a 6:30 p.m., contest against Wichita State at Tointon Family Stadium. A pregame tailgate, which features multiple food and beverage items, will begin at 5:30 p.m., on the southwest lawn area of the stadium grounds. The contest also serves as T-Shirt Tuesday with the first 100 fans into the stadium receiving a free t-shirt, while popcorn, pretzels and candy are available for only $1.
