The Shawnee County Commissioners today voted to approve the closing of Topeka’s 55 year old Crestview Pool.
The decision was based on a report detailing the repairs needed at the pool and the fact that it’s in a flood plain.
“The pool couldn’t be opened without spending a significant amount of money to upgrade the pools systems,” said John Knight, parks and recreation director.
The focus now shifts to looking into a new pool in southwest Topeka. Parks and Recreation officials say they will work from their “Master Plan.”
