MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) is inviting riders of all ages and skill levels to attend the Riley County Police Department Community Bike Ride on April 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
Various routes are being offered to help ensure a casual and enjoyable afternoon.
Participants are being asked to meet in front of the Riley County Police Department no later than 12:45 p.m. to check in and complete a short liability waiver. Riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the time of check in, riders under the age of 16 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the ride.
The RCPD Patrol Bike Unit will be on hand for general bike safety tips and proper helmet fitting a swell as assistance with minor bike maintenance issues. They will also be available for questions regarding their day to day activities while patrolling on a bike as well as local and state bike law inquiries.
All riders join the department at their own risk and should bring appropriate equipment and attire, to include plenty of water, a snack, and at least one extra bike tire inner tube. All participants are required to wear a properly fitting helmet and closed toe athletic shoes.
