Topeka, KS – The Kansas Koyotes announced today that they have made some coaching changes. Head Coach Troy Biladeau, Co-Defensive Coordinator Mike VandeVelde, and Special Teams Coach Jarrod Rogol have been let go and a new coaching staff led by Former Head Coach Jim Green will take over starting immediately. Following a re-branding with a new ownership group, the Koyotes have gotten off to a rocky 1-4 start this season.
“We felt that a change was in order to still have a chance at the playoffs this season”, said Koyotes Co-Owner Pat Park. “Coach Biladeau did a fantastic job of assembling a group of very talented players. He is a very strong recruiter. We’re hoping that Coach Green can build on that and bring the group together as a team and deliver a strong finish to the season.”
Coach Jim Green is the winningest coach in the Koyotes franchise history. In five years as the head man he compiled a 78% winning record going 42-12 in the regular season and leading the Koyotes to three straight APFL Championships.
“The most influential reason we kept the Kansas Koyotes team name was because of the winning tradition of this organization,” said Co-Owner Nick Baumgartner. ”With the level of individual talent on this team we expect to win games and we believe Coach Green can lead the team to meet those expectations.”
This is the only point in the Koyotes schedule, with a bye this week that allows 2 full weeks before the next game, to work on some fundamentals that need to be addressed. Coach Green is rapidly putting together his staff for the 2013 season and beyond. The Koyotes will retain Strength and Conditioning Coach Ryan Koontz. The others will be announced at a later date.
“I do want to thank first, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and secondly, the Kansas Koyotes organization, for allowing me another opportunity to do something I truly love…coaching football,” said Green. “I am excited to get a chance to be a part of this organization. I know I can truly redefine the word champion on and off the field. I also believe that Topeka, Kansas has some of the best fans around and I can’t wait to get back out there and meet them and let them know that in Indoor football how important that 9th person, the fan, is!! The Pack is back!”
The Koyotes next home game is Saturday, April 27th at the Kansas Expocentre when they take on the Bloomington Edge. Great seats are still available with group discounts by call the Koyotes office at (785) 228-0729.
