Earlier today Topeka police responded to a report of a possible person along the Kansas River.
An officer observed a subject along the south bank of the Kansas River basin from atop the Kansas Avenue Bridge. TPD officers were able to reach the subject who was lying in the mud and stayed with the subject an elderly African American female until Topeka Fire and AMR arrived on the scene.
Topeka Fire was able to rescue her and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
After some investigation it was determined the female had been reported as a Missing Person on April 14, 2013 after she failed to return a local nursing facility after church services.
Investigation continues, police ask anyone with information to call detectives at 368-9400 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 234-0007.
