Washburn University, in cooperation with Safe Streets Topeka and the City of Topeka, is seeking submissions from artistic individuals for the design and painting of select traffic control and utility boxes on the campus.
The project is designed to enhance the appearance of campus and promote the identity, history, pride and spirit of the University.
The project on campus is intended to complement the array of traffic control boxes around the city that have been painted in recent years through a program led by Safe Streets.
Four boxes on campus will be painted. There is no charge to the artist to submit design proposals and a $250 stipend will be paid to artists upon completion of the work.
ColorWorks Paint and Supply owners Bob and Diana Swafford are donating the paint for the Washburn project. They also donated the paint for the Safe Streets project.
For complete information on the project and artist information and entry forms, go to washburn.edu/paintboxes. Designs must be submitted digitally. Deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2.
