Obama cites Boston in salute to wounded warriors

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is honoring wounded warriors at the White House by first acknowledging the victims of the Boston Marathon explosions. He says the blast victims never expected to be wounded civilians, many of whom face a long road to recovery.

Addressing participants in the Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride, Obama said Wednesday that the road the blast victims face is one the wounded warriors know all too well.

The president cheered on injured service members who bicycled around the South Lawn, many in specially built bikes. The riders have been on a Washington area tour, one of many organized by the Wounded Warrior Project to raise money and attention.

Obama declared the event his White House favorite, then sent the riders off with a signal from a horn.
