Emporia native Clint Bowyer returned to his hometown on Thursday for the grand opening of his new car dealership: “Clint Bowyer Autoplex.”
“It just means a lot for me to have these people, have the following in this town and this surrounding community,” Bowyer said. “More importantly, having Hall of Fame driver Darrell Waltrip, Michael Waltrip my boss and Mark Martin being here in little ol’ Emporia means a lot to me.”
Bowyer is now the proud owner of the dealership in which he worked as a dent repair specialist and detailer.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity,” Bowyer said. “This is something I’m looking forward to for many years to come but it’s competitive, it’s a challenge. ”
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series makes a stop at Kansas Speedway this weekend and Bowyer is prepared to put on a show in front his hometown friends and family.
“I’m seeing that we picked up where we left off but we had some bumps in the road. However, we are certainly looking for big things in Kansas.”
