4 children died of smoke inhalation in SC fire

HARTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say smoke inhalation killed four young children in a South Carolina mobile home fire.

Coroner J. Todd Hardee on Thursday identified the children as 10-month-old twin sisters Myasia and Kynasia Hawkins. Their brothers, 2-year-old Camaron Mason and 4-year-old Delonta Dixon, were also killed.

It took firefighters less than 10 minutes to put out the fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon at the home near Hartsville, a city of some 8,000 people about 60 miles east of the state capital of Columbia.

Authorities are still working to determine what caused the fire. Investigators have said they are not sure where the children’s mother was when the fire started.
