Some Topeka students spent part of their day in a rain forest.

It was actually a Topeka Collegiate classroom where third graders created the natural surrounding after learning about the animals, insects and plants that make their homes a rain forest.

Their re-creation teaches the importance of conserving their habitat.

The school also held its Trash To Treasure contest where participants create designs from recycled materials.

The projects were a part of Topeka Collegiate’s Earth Day celebration.
