Dozens of farmers and agricultural experts will start the annual wheat quality tour today in Manhattan.

By the end of this week, we’ll know what kind of harm weather swings have done to the state’s wheat crop. They’ll perform more than 600 crop evaluations before giving the 2013 harvest outlook Thursday at the Kansas City Board of Trade.

The tour comes at a crucial time because this year’s crop is 10 days behind schedule because of April freezes.
