The future is still unsure for a southeast Topeka church.
Community members took part in a meeting Tuesday to talk about the fate of a 134-year-old sanctuary.
It was an emotional meeting for some, and a controversial one for others.
Nearly 50 people made it to the meeting about the East Topeka United Methodist Church – and what to do with it next.
The building has been vacant for years.
Some options – moving the building to a new location, tearing it down or remodeling it.
Topeka City Council Member Karen Hiller says it will be a tough and technical decision for the city council on Tuesday – if the people don’t come together and find a solution for this church.
