Franklin Co. Sheriff’s Office asking for information


On May 6, 2013 at approximately 12:16 p.m. a citizen called 911 and reported that a deceased person was located at a residence. The Franklin County Sheriffs responded to a residence in the 3100 block of Georgia Road, Pomona, Kansas and found a deceased adult. The cause or manner of death is unknown.

Staff from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Ottawa Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol began an initial investigation. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene unit responded to assist in processing the crime scene. During a search of the residence a second deceased adult was located; the cause or manner of death is unknown.

On May 7, 2013 the Major Case Squad (M-Squad) was activated to assist the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 7th, 2013 at about 8:00 a.m. a third deceased adult was located inside the residence; the cause and manner of death are unknown.

On May 7th, 2013 at about 6:00 p.m. Frontier Forensics began conducting autopsies of the deceased to try and determine a cause or manner of death and to try and identify the deceased.

On May 7th, 2013 at about 6:30 p.m. Canines from Kansas Search and Rescue searched the area around the residence; the results of that search discovered no new deceased persons.

Information received during the investigation indicates two missing persons from Olathe, Kansas were last seen at the residence where the deceased were located. The vehicle the missing persons were last seen in was located on May 7th, 2013 at about 8:30 p.m. by the Emporia Police Department; the missing persons associated with the vehicle have not been located. A person that detectives wanted to speak to regarding this investigation was located in Emporia and is being interviewed. Kaylie Bailey, a 22-year-old female from Olathe and her daughter, Lana Bailey, an 18-month-old female from Olathe are still missing but were last seen at the residence on Georgia Road in Franklin County; inquiries regarding Kaylie Bailey and her daughter should be directed to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
