Westbound I-70 Rest Area near Paxico (between exits 335 and 338 in Wabaunsee County) will have work to replace a damaged tower light on Wednesday-Friday, May 8-10 during daylight hours.
The rest area will remain open and there will be no impacts to I-70 traffic. All work will be completed within the rest area in the truck parking section, so some parking spots will be closed while this work is taking place.
Crew began work today with drilling and pouring concrete for the base for the new 100-foot light tower replacement. The existing light tower was damaged by a vehicle and removed from service in 2012. New underground conduit is scheduled to be placed the remainder of this week and then the project will be suspended until the actual light tower is delivered to the project on approximately June 5, 2013.
