Some families will be driving around in recycled rides.
At the Statehouse Thursday morning, representatives from the Washburn Institute of Technology and the Manhattan Area Technical College gave away two “recycled rides”.
The donated vehicles are refurbished by students in the auto collision repair program.
Governor Sam Brownback turned over the keys to the vehicles to the recipients.
The two colleges are the only ones in the country that have recycled rides programs.
The Manhattan Tech students have worked with the Wounded Warriors Organization to give vehicles to soldiers who need help.
Friday morning, Washburn Tech will give away a second recycled ride to a deserving family at their Topeka campus.
