A rock formation in Riley County is attracting treasure seekers who are hoping to find diamonds.

The formation includes rare kimberlite pipes. Scientists say the pipes are formed deep in the earth and are millions of years old. They apparently explode to the surface often dragging minerals, precious gems and diamonds with them.

People have reportedly found rubies, garnets and lots of fools gold in the hills over the years, but no diamonds yet.
