Work underway on World’s Largest Baseball

Work is under way this weekend in Muscotah to build the Worlds Largest Baseball.

The Atchison County town of 200 is turning an old water tower tank into the attraction.

Joe Tinker, a shortstop for the Chicago Cubs in the early 1900’s was born in Muscotah in 1880.

The baseball will also house a museum on the inside and surrounding the structure will be iron cutouts of Tinker and other players.

Marci Penner, Director of The Kansas Sampler Foundation says the attraction helps put the small town back on the map.

About $1,700 still needs to be raised for phase one of the project.
