The American Red Cross is proud to announce a partnership with Heartland Park Topeka during a time when devastating tornadoes have affected our neighbors in need.
Heartland Park will do a “pass the bucket” fundraiser during the dirt track races Saturday evening and also host a Red Cross booth to provide information on how to help and how to prepare when disaster strikes.
“Working with our local partners is incredibly important when disaster strikes,” said Jo Ann Long, Development Director for the Red Cross. “Working with Heartland Park Topeka not only will help raise funds for those affected by disaster, but also raise awareness and help people prepare for future emergencies.”
This is the beginning of a long-term collaboration that will continue year-round and support the Red Cross through events and education of the community to spread the message of prevention before tragedy strikes.
Those who would like to help people affected by disasters like tornadoes, floods and other crises can make a donation to American Red Cross Disaster Relief. People can donate by visiting www.redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Donations can also be brought in person to the Red Cross office at 1221 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS 66604. These donations help provide food, shelter and emotional support to those affected by disasters.
