Nearly 200 volunteers took time out of their day to help others.

Volunteers fanned across Topeka for the United Way “Spring Day of Caring” today.

This morning, about two dozen employees of Hills Pet Nutrition helped pack food boxes for senior citizens at the Harvesters Food Bank.

Employees from Payless and Stormont-Vail Health Care also volunteered their time at other projects across the capital city, including work at the Jayhawk Theatre, Let’s Help and the Villages Among Others.

The volunteers put in 860 hours of time, a time valued at nearly $20,000.
