The American Legion Topeka North Post 400 hosted the Memorial Day service where a message was given by Brigadier General Deborah Rose.
A memorial wreath and flower presentation also took place.
At one point the storm caused the lights to go out, but it also caused a brief delay in the ceremony. People just got out flashlights and cell phones to continue the service.
