Fallen Union soldiers honored in special ceremony

On Saturday Old Abe Camp Number 16 – Sons Of Union Veterans of the Civil War held a Memorial Day service.

They honored fallen union soldiers buried at the Topeka Cemetery in the area known as “g.a.r. circle”.

Organizers placed American flags throughout the cemetery.

The ceremony featured comments by Topeka Council Person Denise Everhart, a gun salute by the Vietnam Veterans Association  and raising of the flag by the Boy Scouts.
