Heavy rainfall in Topeka

Heavy rainfall this morning in Topeka has lead to a soggy start to our Memorial Day.  As of 10 a.m. Topeka’s Billard airport has received 2.16″ of rain.  This is the most rain we have seen in one day since August 25th, 2012.  Doppler estimated rainfall shows 2-4″ of rain has fallen across Shawnee and Jefferson counties, leading to minor flooding concerns.  Be aware of any rising creeks or steams and never drive through a flooded roadway!  The heavy rain will come to an end by the early afternoon.

More storms are possible this evening.  The Storm Track Weather Team is monitoring the potential of severe weather with large hail and damaging winds.   They will also track a tornado threat.  Pay attention to the weather this evening and stay tuned to Kansas First News.
