Old Kansas Statehouse

Some legislators have said they don’t want the overtime pay as lawmakers work beyond the 90-day session time frame.

Each extra day is expected to cost Kansans $45,000. Last year, the session went 9 extra days. Five of the 40 senators and 17 of the 125 representatives declined their legislative salary past day 90, which was Thursday.
