A special unit could be created to look into unsolved homicides.

District Attorney Chad Taylor is asking Shawnee County County Commissioners to authorize $150,000 to investigate cold case files.

According to the commission’s agenda released Thursday, on Monday commissioners are expected to take up the Taylor’s request.

The funds would be used to investigate and prosecute cold case homicides.

Money set aside would finance salaries and benefits for employees and court reporter fees, plus cover travel costs.

According to the memo, his office would finance the $300,000 cost of creating the unit with the $150.000 increase to his budget.
