The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two residential burglaries.
The first burglary occurred between May 31 and June 3 in St. Mary’s, Kan. on Seminole Drive. In this burglary the suspect(s) entered the residence by prying a rear patio door. Once inside, the suspect stole items to include a Benelli shotgun, 2 Weatherby shot guns, 2 weatherby rifles, a Ruger .22 pistol, LG Flat screen television, other electronics, tools, fishing equipment, golfing items and food. The amount of loss in this burglary is estimated at approximately $20, 000.
The second burglary occurred on June 7 at a rural residence in the area of Diamond Rd. , and Highway 63, rural St.Mary’s. The suspect-s in this burglary made entrance to the home through a rear door during the daytime hours. Once inside the suspect-s stole a Whites metal detector, a Ruger 10-22 rifle, a Remington 243 Rifle, and a Dell Laptop computer. While inside the residence the suspects fired a gun multiple times causing damage to other items inside the house, as well as the house. The gun fired inside the residence was not one that was from the residence, it is believed that the suspect-s had that gun with them. Loss from theft and damage from this call are estimated at approximately $9,000.
