Youngsters at Bob Chipman’s summer basketball camp received a special surprise from a pair of Jayhawk players.

KU sophomore Andrew White and freshman Wayne Selden both stopped by Washburn’s Lee Arena.  They signed autographs, answered questions and played mini-scrimmages against the campers.

“I’m just grateful to have so much fan support,” White said. “It really kicks in full effect when we’re around kids just to show how much we love them so I’m happy to be here.”

Selden is one of the best incoming freshman in the country. The McDonald’s All-American arrived in Lawrence at the end of May and is already seeing progress in his game.

“I look at it like it’s not the freshman class anymore,” Selden said. “We’re one team now so we’ve got some young guys and we have a couple older guys and we’re just one team.”

Other KU stars also attended the summer camp earlier this month, including KU sophomores Perry Ellis and Jamari Traylor.

“We’re going to work hard this year and we’re going to work to be as good as we can be,” Selden said. “Rock Chalk!”
