It’s unlikely that anyone other than the president could have trumped the fanfare that surrounded Andrew Wiggins’ first public appearance in Lawrence.
The freshman phenom arrived in Lawrence over the weekend, and took to the court in front of fans for the first time as a Jayhawk at Bill Self’s basketball camp. Within ten seconds of the opening tip Wiggins displayed exactly why Jayhawk faithful have so much to be excited about. The first two times he touched the ball, the play ended with explosive dunks, the first over Sacramento King Cole Aldrich. It hasn’t been a week yet but Wiggins says he’s already getting used to his new home.
