The 2013 honorees are inducted into the Kansas Hall of Fame Friday night.
Laureates include the first Kansas colored infantry, “Kansas” the iconic rock band, Doctor James Naismith, the father of basketball, Doctors C.F. Karl and Will Menninger and Clark Kent – also known as Superman.
Richard Williams with the band “Kansas” says it’s great to be recognized for their accomplishments in the band’s home state.
Among those appearing at Friday night’s ceremony are nine current and former members of “Kansas”, Laura Siegel Larson, daughter of the co-creator of Superman and James Naismith’s grandson Jim.
The Kansas Hall of Fame started in 2011 commemorating the state’s 150th birthday.
