Around 2:30 p.m., 77-year old Leon Thompson was driving a Ford Explorer on I-70.

He lost control and hit the divide on eastbound I-70 where it spans into southwest Gage.

Emergency crews took him to a Topeka hospital with non life threatening injuries.

After that wreck, a police detective struck a Kansas Highway Patrol vehicle near Danbury Lane on I-70.

TPD says three detectives had just picked up evidence in a case and were headed back to the law enforcement center.

All three, Troy Willard, Lance Green and Jeri Cole were taken to a Topeka Hospital to be checked for injuries.

Lieutenant Ron Gish says two detectives were released, the third stayed overnight for observation.
