The board of directors for Visit Topeka Inc. announced the hiring of Terry Cook as Visit Topeka’s new president and CEO. The board’s announcement comes after a nation-wide search to fill the position. Cook will begin his duties in Topeka on August 5.
Cook has served as executive director of the Harrison Convention and Visitors Bureau in Harrison, Arkansas since October 2004. In his position as executive director of the Harrison Convention and Visitors Bureau, Cook was responsible for all aspects of sales, marketing and staff administration. During his time in Harrison, Cook focused on the promotion of attractions and events, while developing a strong sports and leisure-based tourism market.
Before running the Harrison Convention and Visitors Bureau, Cook served as director of sales and marketing for the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks in Eureka Springs, Arkansas from 2001 to 2004, and as president and CEO of the Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce, from 1999 to 2001.
