Summer heat off to a slower start than 2012

Most Kansans remember with vivid details the summer of 2012 for its prolonged summer heat. However, there have been a couple days this season that have been intense across the area, as well.

As of July 10th, this summer and the year so far is coming in quite a bit cooler than 2012 across Northeast Kansas. Here’s a look at the numbers for Topeka:


Days 95° or above:

  • 18 (2012)….6 (2013)

Days 100° or above:

  • 11 (2012)…..1 (2013)

Total precipitation through July 10th:

  • 13.64″ (2012)…..17.49″ (2013)

Total snowfall through July 10th:

  • 3.0″ (2012)…..24.2″ (2013)
