Patients of a procedure at a southeast Kansas hospital may have been exposed to infection.

Health officials are recommending that nearly 250 patients who received colonoscopies at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center be tested for Hepatitis B and C, and HIV infections.

An investigation by the medical center and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment determined that the instruments used during the procedures were not cleaned and disinfected in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
