Topeka Symphony Orchestra gets new director

The Topeka Symphony Orchestra will soon be led by an accomplished native Californian.

Today the Symphony introduced Kyle Wiley Pickett, only the fourth conductor in teh orchestra’s nearly 70 year history.

They also presented the 2013-2014 concert season at a press conference on Washburn’s campush.

The accomplished flutist has his Doctoral Degree in Orchestral Conducting from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.

Pickett was selected from a group of 125 applicants for the prestigious position.
