The Washington County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a domestic violence incident at 741 14th Rd. in Coleman Township of Washington County.
An officer responded to this address where they encountered a female suspect that had barricaded herself in a small camper trailer. Negotiations with this suspect were attempted. Once visual contact was made with the suspect, it was found that the suspect had possession of a firearm.
During this contact; the suspect turned the firearm on the officer resulting in the officer firing on the suspect which stopped the threat at that time.
The officer was not injured, and the suspect was transported by EMS to the Washington County Hospital.
Standard investigation of the officer-involved shooting is being conducted by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Other involved agencies providing assistance were Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Marysville Police Department.
