Grocer to reduce prices on thousands of products

HUTCHINSON, Kansas August 7, 2013 – Dillons, which includes locations across Kansas and in Springfield, MO, has announced the launch of an exciting new price campaign.
Beginning August 7, Dillons will lower prices on thousands of items, including those in grocery, produce, organics, natural foods and general merchandise. This venture is a multi-million dollar investment for the company, and loyal Dillons customers will reap the benefits.
Since 2008, Dillons has been lowering prices in several categories, including packaged meat, produce, health and beauty care, and other departments. This new latest campaign to reduce every day prices is an extension of the ongoing investment. Some examples of the new pricing include:
Tide Liquid Laundry Detergent (48-64 use) is now $11.99, saving $3 from the previous price.
Freshcetta Pizza is now $5.49, saving $2.06 from the previous price.
Pedigree Dog Food is now $12.99, saving $5.36 from the previous price
“Dillons has aimed to provide our customers with a completely rewarding shopping experience,” said Sheila Lowrie, Dillons spokesperson. “Price continues to be an important factor when customers are deciding where to shop. Now, our customers are going to save even more on the items they buy every week. It will be an exciting time in our stores for our Dillons customers.”

In addition to the price reductions on groceries, natural foods, and merchandise, Dillons will continue to offer weekly and everyday sales; fuel rewards for savings at the pump, through which customers can save up to $1.00 off a gallon at Dillons Fuel Centers and Kwik Shop convenience stores, $4 and $10 Prescription Program, weekly specials, and themed saving events. Dillons is also expanding digital coupons at and their mobile app.
As a result of the new price campaign affecting thousands of products storewide, the company is also announcing the discontinuation of its double coupons program for manufacturer coupons. Double coupons will be accepted until August 20, 2013. All coupons will be accepted at face value beginning August 21, 2013.
“After careful analysis, we have discovered that our customers have really utilized ways to save other than just manufacturer coupons — such as downloadable digital coupons and our customized direct mail coupons based on each shopper’s preferences,” Lowrie said. “By lowering thousands of prices on everyday products, we will provide more value for all customers.

We recognize this change might be an inconvenience for some shoppers who relied on the double coupons. Our investment to reduce prices is actually triple the amount we typically spend to provide double coupons, annually.”
Lowrie added that 85% of their customers currently do not redeem double coupons, however more and more customers are accessing store promotions and coupons from the company’s digital apps. Digital coupons offer added ease and convenience versus traditional print coupons.
