Kalamazoo Institute of Arts offers online access

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts has launched a new eMuseum that gives online visitors access to its collection of more than 4,200 works.

The KIA recently announced that online visitors may search a database under the “Collection” tab at the museum’s website for information and images of most works.

The museum says it’s one of 600 institutions worldwide using eMuseum software by Gallery Systems to make its art collection searchable.

The KIA’s collection was originally developed in the 1960s to complement the museum’s art classes. It focuses on American painting, sculpture and ceramics; American and European works on paper form the16th century and later; and photography.

In recent years, it has been expanded to include Oceanic objects, Pre-Columbian gold and ceramics, African art and East Asian art.
