Second hottest temperature

The hottest temperature ever recorded in Topeka was on July 24th, 1936 when the mercury soared to 114º!  However, on this date, 77 years ago, Topeka reached our 2nd hottest temperature ever!  On August 13th & August 14th, Topeka reached 113º!  This of course we during the dust bowl era which included not only record heat but recorded drought.

As of today, we are only forecasting highs in the low 80s, and so far this August we have picked up more than 5″ of rain!
