OTTAWA, Kan. (AP) — A Franklin County judge has ruled DNA experts can use all the evidence samples in the case of a 28-year-old man charged with killing four people at a farm in eastern Kansas.

A brief status hearing was held Thursday for Kyle Trevor Flack, who’s charged in the May deaths of 30-year-old Andrew Adam Stout, 31-year-old Steven Eugene White, 21-year-old Kaylie Kathleen Bailey, and Bailey’s 18-month-old daughter, Lana-Leigh.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/17oJmw9 ) Flack appeared in jail garb, leg irons and handcuffs at the hearing.

Chief judge Thomas Sachse said DNA experts can use all of the samples if they’re needed to obtain good results. The judge also granted a two-week continuance on a preliminary hearing, which had been scheduled for Feb. 24. The new hearing date is March 11.
