It’s a new identity for Washburn Rural as Steve Buhler takes over at head coach for the Junior Blues.
Buhler spent 15 seasons at Rossville and won more than 100 games for the Bulldawgs.
“I’ve got a great group of kids,” Buhler said. “I left a super group of kids over at Rossville and really happy I came over here and have the same type of kids that like to work hard and want to do well, push each other and it’s been a fun transition.”
The Junior Blues missed out on the postseason a year ago after a (4-5) record.
“Well, we’ve completely changed,” Washburn Rural senior defensive back Dale Henderson said. “This year is all about unity, family and playing together. No more clicks.”
Washburn Rural begins the season at home against Blue Valley West.
“As a team we want to go past playoffs,” Washburn Rural senior tailback/defensive end Brandon Quy said. “We don’t want to just make playoffs, we want to go past it.”
