Attention travelers – in just a couple months, flights will start taking off from Topeka to Chicago.
The United Airlines flights will start in January.
The twice daily routes will leave out of Topeka Regional Airport to the windy city.
Monday, The Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority announced the agreement with United using 50 passenger regional jets for two departures and arrivals daily seven days a week.
The MTAA says the cost of the flights are expected to be the same as those out of Kansas City.
Topeka Regional Airport hasn’t had commercial service since Allegiant Air stopped its service to Las Vegas in 2007.
“We do not want to see a failure. What we’re looking for is the right service to the right market…meaning the connecting hub. Chicago is the perfect hub for us to connect to,” MTAA Airport President Eric Johnson said.
Taking a look around the region….on a daily basis, there are two flights daily out of Manhattan’s airport to Chicago.
This flight would add the same – two daily flights from Topeka.
And it joins Kansas City International Airport, which its website says 17 flights head directly to the windy city on a daily basis.
