If you’ve been past U.S. Highway 24 lately you’ve probably seen a lot of movement near the Menoken Rd. area
The interchange project has been underway for over a month.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says by the end of the project about 1.6 million cubic yards of dirt will be moved to form the new portion of the U.S. 24 highway.
The new highway will have four lanes as opposed to two.
When the project is finished, the new highway will be north of the existing highway and will have two new bridges.
The project is still in its first stage but is expected to be finished by 2014.
