A 2-year-old girl and a coach were rescued after falling into a brick cistern in a west Louisville park on Thursday evening.

According to Doug Recktenwald, assistant chief for Louisville Fire & Rescue, crews were dispatched at 7:44 p.m. to Russell Lee Park in the 3600 block of Southern Avenue after MetroSafe received a report about an adult and a child trapped below the surface.

Witnesses at the scene told WAVE 3 News Reporter Connie Leonard the field is used for youth football league games and when the little girl, Myahana Moore, walked away and fell into the hole. Coach Terrence Washington saw her fall and jumped in after her without hesitating.
