Governor makes appointment to the 11th District Court of Kan.

Topeka – Kansas Governor Sam Brownback today announced the appointment of Pittsburg attorney Kurtis Loy to the 11th District Court of the State of Kansas. Loy will replace retiring Chief Judge John C. Gariglietti on the court.

“Kurtis’ knowledge on a wide variety of legal issues qualifies him well for this position on the 11th District Court. He has a sharp legal mind that will serve his community well,” Gov. Brownback said.

Kurtis I. Loy is an attorney and senior member of Loy & Sagehorn, LLC in Pittsburg. He has practiced many different areas of law including probate, contracts, civil litigation, tax law and family law and has mediated civil litigation and child custody cases. Loy is a graduate of Pittsburg State University and Washburn University School of Law.

The state’s 105 counties are organized into 31 Judicial Districts.  The district courts serve as the trial courts for the state, overseeing all civil and criminal cases. The 11th District Court manages Cherokee, Crawford, and Labette counties.
