Heavy rain hits portions of the area

Rainfall amounts in excess of 3″ fell over portions of Osage and Franklin counties Thursday evening as a slow-moving cold front produced several hours of thunderstorms south of Topeka.

Storms rolled in, producing gusty winds and a shelf cloud that passed over Shawnee County.

For western counties that missed out on the rain, the sunset more than made up for the lack of showers.
