With only six days left in “National Preparedness Month,” Shawnee County Emergency Managers are as busy as ever, despite the beautiful weather.

Emergency managers help prepare for everything, not just devastating weather.

The Shawnee County Emergency Managers are teaming up with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office in an effort to teach and inform local businesses and groups about security, surveillance, and suspicious behavior.

Deputy Director of Shawnee County Emergency Management, Dusty Nichols, says even when everything is quiet, he’s still planning and preparing for the future.

Local emergency managers stress the importance of communication within individual households.  Nichols says this communication is key, so when disaster strikes, every family member is aware of exactly what to do.
