TOPEKA, Kan. – The City of Topeka has issued a health advisory along the Wanamaker Tributary area that flows northwest from 10th and Wanamaker to the Kansas River. An unknown quantity of sewage leaked into the creek Friday afternoon due to a break in an 18-inch sanitary force main.
As a precautionary measure, people, particularly children, and pets are asked to stay away from the creek until the stream advisory has been lifted.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has been notified. Contractors are on site and have started the repair process.
