Greenfield Village hosting Halloween celebration

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — A Detroit-area history attraction is offering a series of weekend Halloween celebrations.

Hallowe’en in Greenfield Village is modeled after the holiday as it was celebrated during the first half of the last century.

It includes 1,000 hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns and features characters adorned in costumes inspired by the Halloween party pamphlets of the early 1900s. Visitors can stop along the way and listen to storytellers recount the stories of Hansel & Gretel and Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart.”

The evening events run this Friday to Sunday, as well as Oct. 18 to 20, and Oct. 25 to 27. Tickets are required.

Greenfield Village is in Dearborn. It is part of The Henry Ford, an attraction that also includes the Henry Ford Museum.
