Manhattan business helps employees save money on health insurance

Healthcare is a hot topic nationwide and right here in Northeast Kansas, some workers at a Manhattan business are getting their checkups for free and done right at work.
Since October of last year , employees at GTM Sportswear in Manhattan have saved time and money by getting check up’s at their very own health clinic.
Graphic Designer, Cody Tenbrink have the convenience of going to a health clinic that was built for GTM workers and their families.
“It was about like going to the doctor, it was easy and simple.”
Since it’s a free clinic owner of the company Dave Dreiling says, this set up benefits both the business and the workers.

“Taking insurance out of the equation works for both sides very well for the employees obviously it’s free, they don’t have to fill out forms or anything like that.  For us, when you take insurance out it takes a lot of the cost out because there’s a tremendous amount of cost that goes just into processing claims and here we can just focus on the patient and the health care.”

The clinic is no more than 50 yards away, that’s walking distance from the GTM Headquarters.
Employees like Tenbrink, love it.
“If you’re not feeling too well in the morning you can at least try and come to work. You always try and push through the day but if it gets too bad you can just sort of walk over.”
On staff at the clinic is a full time physicians assistant, and two additional staff members to help schedule appointments.
GTM does, embroidering, sells sports wear, team uniforms an distributes them around the country.
With about 900 employees,  Dreiling says this is something other businesses should consider.
it says a lot about how we value our team members.”
Tenbrink says, he’s anxious to get his family through the doors of the new clinic as well.

“They’re very helpful and it’s very convenient.”

The health clinic offers routine medical care and checkups.
It’s only open to employees of GTM and their families.
